Three of the best ways to land that new job
If you’re looking for a fresh start, or perhaps you’re determined to land a more senior role, now is the time to channel that energy into your job search.
Whether you’re an Assembly Worker or a Project Manager, the message is the same: be focused, be proactive, be positive!
Let’s get personal!
You’ll find a great guide to creating your CV on the jobs24.com blog but don’t ruin all your good work by sending it with a generic covering letter.
No potential employer wants to receive an application with a letter headed Dear Sir/Madam that reads like a carbon copy from a website.
Find out the name of the person you should be addressing.
Give them a feel for the real you by talking politely and directly but in your own voice and with the words you feel comfortable saying.
The same goes at the interview stage: be confident, be knowledgeable but above all, be yourself.
Know your audience!
As well as knowing who you’re corresponding with, it pays to research the company and its personnel.
This will allow you to not only to customise your covering letter but also fine tune your interview style to cover all those points you know are important to your new employers.
Explore their website, search for their name on news sites.
There’s no need to hire a PI to follow their MD, but the more you know before applying for the position, the more you have in your armoury.
Such knowledge will make you stand out from the crowd.
Learn to love yourself!
Remember that it’s not all about them simply liking you.
You have to really know if you want this job too. So your interviewer is going to have to sell their company.
Ask questions that you really want answered; What are the prospects for promotion? Do you offer supplementary in-house training? Are there opportunities to up-skill or transfer to other departments? Is there an employee discount scheme for tropical holidays (probably not)?
Search through thousands of local jobs on jobs24.com.
