Full Job Description

To act as deputy to the Modality Lead for CT/MRI ensuring in their absence effective day to day management of workload, staffing and resources whilst prioritising workflow as required to ensure the best delivery of services.

To provide high quality patient centred care and continually develop and update CT/MRI imaging techniques to enhance the service provided in line with evidence based best practice.To perform a comprehensive range of MRI procedures without supervision and also provide training and supervision for radiographers and students in MRI imaging techniques and safety.

Adhere to department protocols and guidelines, adapting techniques as appropriate to patient condition considering the high radiation dose of CT examinations/ reduce the risk of exposure to magnetic fields for MRI and where appropriate to offer advice on other imaging options.

The post holder will justify, authorise and protocol CT/MRI requests as per departmental protocol and refer requests which do not adhere to policy to a Consultant Radiologist.

The post holder will have responsibility for the day to day management of staff working within the CT and MRI department in accordance with the Trusts policies and procedures.

Take part in both the extended working day and emergency duty rosters.

Applications will be accepted from individuals with experience in a single modality, CT or MRI, with a willingness to train in the other.

We are looking for dedicated and experienced radiographers with proven team leadership skills and the post will also provide the opportunity to develop your leadership skills further, acting as a line manager for both cross-sectional teams

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to CPD and a practical knowledge of radiation protection, legislation, health and safety requirements and MRI safety.

The successful candidate will be fully trained in MRI and have proven clinical skills in a wide variety of examinations and scan techniques. Previous experience in CT would be beneficial and the post will provide the opportunity to develop your clinical skills further in both modalities.

You will be expected to maintain high clinical standards and share this practice with junior staff and students. Above all, patients must be at the forefront of your practice and providing excellent patient care in line with the Trust core values.

You will possess DCR (R) or BSc Radiography with current HCPC registration and evidence of post graduate study. We actively encourage Post Graduate study and role extension.

NHS experience is essential.There is no requirement to work night shifts within this role but weekends are included.

A flexible approach to working will be required and the applicant may be required to work at both the hospital trust site and also at the community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in the town centre.
