Full Job Description

This epidemiologist role will be based at the Musculoskeletal Research Unit at Bristol Medical School, as part of the NIHR-Wellcome Trust funded study: Fractures in Sub-Saharan Africa: epidemiology, economic impact and ethnography; the Fractures-E^3 study: About the study - Fractures-E3.What will you be doing?

  • Working within a multidisciplinary, international team to deliver high quality epidemiological research in Global and Musculoskeletal Health
  • Writing and successfully publish articles in high quality peer reviewed journals and working in collaboration with colleagues as appropriate to do this
  • Presenting research findings at national and international conferences
  • Developing national and international collaborations as appropriate for the Fractures-E3 Study
  • Managing components of the Fractures-E3 Study in line with information governance requirements and Good Clinical Practice
  • Contributing to the life of the Unit, School and University, for instance by speaking at events and participating in committees and groups as appropriate
  • Supervising and mentoring staff at administrative and academic levels

    Knowledge and experience of epidemiological research in a healthcare setting
  • Commitment to data accuracy and clear presentation
  • Experience of applying statistical methods to analyse data and inform research findings
  • Evidence that research skills are kept current and that selected methodologies are appropriate to the topic area and research questions
  • Ability to take responsibility for own work, including ideas for new analyses
  • Be self-motivated, proactive, innovative, and able to use initiative where appropriate
  • Evidence of excellent writing skills, showing clarity of expression and attention to detail
  • First authorship of articles published in peer-reviewed journals in keeping with the candidate's years of experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and constructively within a multidisciplinary international team
