Full Job Description
As our Achievement Mentor, you will play an essential role in empowering students to achieve their qualifications and develop the skills they need for a bright future. Your work will focus on helping students enhance their Maths and English abilities while fostering the confidence, motivation, and wider skills needed to progress in education and beyond. You'll work with small groups of up to six learners, providing tailored support and interventions that address their unique needs. Collaborating closely with Curriculum Teams, you'll create a positive and engaging learning environment that inspires students to set clear targets and achieve measurable progress. By using innovative teaching strategies and encouraging a growth mindset, you'll guide students to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include running focused group sessions, using creative learning strategies and online tools to make lessons impactful and engaging. You'll keep accurate records of attendance and progress, ensuring timely feedback and reports that demonstrate the difference your interventions are making. With access to high-quality resources and teaching materials, you'll help students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Beyond academic support, you'll actively contribute to initiatives that improve student retention, attendance, and overall achievement. Building strong, positive relationships with learners will be central to your role, creating an environment where they feel supported and inspired to succeed. Your enthusiasm and dedication will encourage students to take ownership of their learning and celebrate their achievements. As part of the wider college team, you'll also engage in quality systems, champion diversity and equality, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students. With access to training and development opportunities, you'll continually refine your skills and grow in your role. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on students' lives, helping them to succeed academically while developing the resilience and skills to pursue their ambitions. If you're passionate about student success and ready to inspire the next generation, this role is perfect for you!
We are looking for a candidate who has strong interpersonal skills and the experience needed to effectively support and guide learners. In this role, you'll play a key part in helping students develop essential coping strategies, build resilience, and achieve their academic goals. Your ability to create an environment where students feel valued, motivated, and empowered will be central to their success. You will have the opportunity to design engaging learning activities that capture students' interest and cater to their individual learning styles. Flexibility will be important as you tailor your approach to meet the diverse needs of your students, ensuring each one is supported in the way that works best for them. Strong numeracy and literacy skills are essential, as you'll be guiding students in improving their abilities in these areas. You'll also need to meet deadlines and manage your time effectively, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and on time. Building strong rapport with students will be one of your key strengths, helping you connect quickly and provide the right support for their success. You will use a variety of assessment techniques to track progress and identify areas where further support is needed. Along with monitoring attendance, you will be thorough in documenting and tracking student progress, providing regular feedback and reports.
