Join us as a Reserving Lead in our Actuarial team to take your career to the next level with an international market leader. This is a fantastic role for a qualified or nearly qualified actuary who wants to progress their career. You will be on the front line and will get exposure to a broad range of senior stakeholders across the business, including the Chief Actuaries and Underwriters, and you will have the opportunity to get involved in some interesting global transformation projects. The insights you derive from reserving will drive underwriting strategy and you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the business. Make your mark in Actuarial Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG's major insurance operating companies, globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management, among other functions. As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage and mitigate risk. How you will create an impact As a Reserving Product Lead, you will support key reserving activities for a product tower across AIG UK and Europe business, supporting underwriting in profitability monitoring and assisting in capital modelling projects from a reserving perspective. More specifically, this involves:

  • Leading the actuarial reserving on a product tower for UK and European markets, providing quarterly recommendations on ultimate reserves positions, IBNR and reserves uncertainty.
  • Take a leading role in the liaison with the claims team around impact of initiatives, and specific IBNR areas (e.g. CAT, specific losses, financial crisis etc.).
  • Liaise with the underwriting teams around the impact of any profitability initiatives, portfolio changes and other relevant actions.
  • Assist in the production of key reserving results and analytics to present to key stakeholders (internal and external to actuarial).
  • Work with reinsurance to ensure ongoing understanding of outwards RI changes impacting their product tower
  • Day to day management of a small team, including training of junior staff
  • Support continuous improvement to key processes
  • Input into the budget loss ratio setting process for their product tower, on both a legal entity and management view basis.
  • Involvement in the capital model calibration process and support in other key SII activities.

    Degree in Mathematics or related discipline
  • Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary
  • Significant Reserving experience within commercial lines
  • Proficiency in reserving software - e.g. ResQ
  • Knowledge of R and SQL advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
