Full Job Description

The Virtual School are looking to appoint a Casual PEP Advisory Teacher to primarily work in the Primary Phase of the Virtual School causal pool to ensure that the capacity is available as and when required to ensure continuity of statutory services. Applicants should have several years direct teaching experience in a Mainstream School, Pupils Referral Unit or Alternative Learning Provision. You must have a good understanding of the Primary Phase Curriculum and Special Educational Needs. You will need to integrate successfully into an established team and make a significant and valuable contribution to the remit of the Virtual School.
The Casual PEP Advisory Teacher is required to attend termly PEP meetings to promote the educational outcomes of Children Looked After. You will need to have good organisational skills and be able to adhere to the Statutory timeframes for PEPs.
PEP Advisory Teachers are responsible for:-

Ensuring there is robust Personal Education Plan (PEP) in place for Children Looked After with aspirational SMART targets and learner outcomes through monitoring and reporting.
Quality assuring PEPs.
Supporting designated teachers, social workers, and carers through training, termly network meetings and newsletters.
Supporting decision making where multi agencies and teams are involved with a young person.
Ensuring that school placement continue wherever possible and support transition when there is a change of placement.
Have a detailed understanding of Safeguarding of Children and Young People.
Understand Attachment and Trauma.
