Full Job Description

IRC is undergoing a period of significant transformation as a result of the Strategic Resource Allocation project. This process was designed to ensure that our resources are more directly aligned with our long-term strategy, enabling us to achieve sustainable growth and impact in a context of escalating humanitarian needs and a reduction in available funding. As part of this evolution, we are establishing a new role to drive the transformation within the AMU (Awards Management Unit) department. This role is critical in rebuilding the department's structure, refining its strategic direction, and ensuring that it is well-positioned to capitalize on new revenue opportunities, in line with our new business development strategy. Phase 2 of IRC's global strategy, S100, focuses on achieving Impact at Scale. This means sustainably increasing the scale of our most impactful programing by sustaining a healthy foundation of programming and focusing our scaling efforts on our most impactful and cost-effective programs. AMU plays a critical role in enabling this vision and it is imperative for the success of the broader organization that the department is able to efficiently and effectively achieve its goals within a changed context. Scope of work The Transformation and Strategy Lead will play a key role in steering the department through this transformative phase. This includes developing and implementing a robust structure that supports agility, innovation, and efficiency. Additionally, this role will be instrumental in devising a forward-thinking revenue strategy that leverages market trends, enhances our competitive edge, and drives sustainable growth in line with the BD strategy. The Transformation and Strategy Lead will collaborate closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to execute strategic projects that align with the organization's objectives. This position demands a visionary leader with a strategic mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of driving successful transformations. The successful candidate will be adept at navigating complex challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring alignment with our new business development strategy to deliver tangible results that contribute to the long-term success of the AMU department and the organization as a whole. Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the smooth transition of AMU service offerings, both inside of AMU and with other departments.
  • Implement the structural recommendations for AMU ensuring new ways of working are established, sound and understood.
  • Iterate as part of lessons learned and customize solutions that will best meet stakeholder needs.
  • Support the transition to new ways of working and collaboration with other workstreams outside of AMU to ensure an integrated approach, in particular closer relationship and synergies with public/private funding in ER and with opportunities for closer collaboration with and support to RAI.
  • Refining the culture of AMU to ensure collective success.
  • Depending on when this person starts the following deliverables are anticipated (largely from SRA 4 work):
  • o Updated AMU overall service offering and ways of working o Updated team by team service offering and ways of working o Action plan and roadmap for closer ER / AMU integration based on the new public fund-ing BD strategy + consultations with ER colleagues o Updated people action plan and roadmap to improve culture in the organization

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 10-12 years of relevant work experience, at least five of which in a strategy or organizational performance role, with gradually increasing responsibilities and a track record of high performance
  • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Please note that diversity of experience counts (i.e., paid and volunteer work; lived experiences; transferable skills from another industry etc.)
  • Extensive experience in driving strategic change and organizational change management
  • Repeated experience in project managing large-scale, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with and advising colleagues at all levels, especially senior leadership
  • Highly collaborative and able ability to work independently in a dynamic, global, cross-functional structure
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to deliver on time and make progress against multiple simultaneous demands
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to structure and creatively solve complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
  • Repeated experience managing successful project teams and coaching more junior team members
  • Ability to respond enthusiastically and positively to ambiguity, be resilient to shifting priori-ties and setbacks, and be comfortable with imperfect analysis and solutions
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Preferred experience & skills:
  • Experience in a humanitarian or development organization, or similar
  • Knowledge of French, Arabic or Spanish
  • Candidates must have the right to work within the country they are applying.

    AMU has responsibility for identifying, securing and managing all funding from government donors for the IRC. AMU is a bridge between donors and the IRC's work on the ground. The team provides expert technical advice to colleagues delivering our services around the world, ensures consistency and compliance with our donors' policies and procedures, and manages risk. The unit also supports all IRC staff working on awards from government donors and partnerships.
