Analyst, EMEA Investment & Portfolio Solutions

The EMEA Portfolio Consulting team works closely with clients to help them achieve their desired portfolio outcomes using a range of BlackRock products across both liquid (alpha-seeking and index) & illiquid investment vehicles. Our team is made up of experts in portfolio construction and financial markets that are powered by BlackRock's Risk Platform, Aladdin®. The team assists investors in understanding the risks and unique characteristics of their existing portfolios and guides them towards achieving their desired outcomes. Additionally, we collaborate with clients to develop new investment strategies and solutions., Seeking an enthusiastic and quantitively minded Junior Portfolio Strategist, the team is looking for an Analyst to join the IPS Consulting Team in London. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Portfolio Strategists to analyse and consult on client investment propositions. Although predominantly focused on portfolio analysis, they will also have a demonstrable ability to articulate technical concepts and be comfortable presenting to stakeholders. Situated in a fast-paced environment, this role will give significant exposure to both BlackRock's client and investment businesses as well as a fantastic platform to learn about portfolio analytics and construction techniques. Overtime, the successful candidate should be happy to step up and engage directly with clients. Your r esponsibilities

• Work with the Consulting and Sales teams to evaluate, evolve or construct portfolios tailored to each individual client. This will involve:
• Running custom portfolio analytics and understand how these fit within the current market environment (75% of role)
• Stayingup to date with the latest macroeconomic and investment management industry trends.
• Partner with multiple teams across the organisation (investment research, BlackRock Investment Institute etc.) in the execution of joint research work.
• Understand the business to devise both short term and long-term innovations across technology, business, and finance.
• Work closely with the in-business technology team to help enhance the technology platform for all stakeholders.
  
  Strong understanding of financial markets, including drivers of return, risk control and portfolio construction techniques.
• Flexible and open to accepting new challenges; able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects at a time in a dynamic, demanding and constantly evolving environment while maintaining the highest standards and attention to detail
• Effective interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. The successful candidate must have the confidence and credibility to persuasively interact with colleagues, management, and clients.
• Interest in working with financial data platforms like Aladdin, MPI, Bloomberg, Morningstar & FactSet
It would be a plus if you have this but not necessary to apply….
• Prior experience with risk management / portfolio construction systems (e.g. Barra, Axioma, Aladdin etc)
• Strong understanding of data available in the investment management industry and experience in managing and accessing such data to support research efforts.
• Prior experience in macroeconomics / investment strategy / portfolio management
• Programming skills (Python, R, Matlab, VBA)
• 2nd Language (French or Spanish preferable)
• CFA / FRM / CAIA
