Full Job Description

As part of your role you will be responsible for providing high quality assessments including risk assessments and supporting the wider MDT in the development of care and risk management plans. You will also be responsible for providing high quality and evidence based psychological interventions/ therapy to individuals on the low secure unit as part of their care plan. Interventions may include facilitating and leading on group interventions and individual interventions/ therapy from a wide range of psychological theories and models.
This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop a range of skills both embedded in a multi-disciplinary team and as part of a wider group of Psychological Professionals within the directorate. This post will be of particular interest to those wishing to develop, or enhance existing, skills around attachment, trauma, learning disability and Autism., Accountable for own professional practice in undertaking psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions for clients with learning disability, Autism, psychological, emotional or mental health conditions and/or trauma and a forensic history in a low secure forensic unit.
Be responsible for assessing and managing risk including in a crisis or safeguarding situation
To provide clinical supervision/reflective practice to junior or unqualified psychological professionals, as appropriate and where trained to do so.
To attend and contribute to MDTs, for instance to share formulations, offer advice, to offer training.
To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
(Where appropriate) to undertake formal research / service evaluations and to act as field supervisor for trainees psychologists.
To be pro-active in continual service improvement.
To promote, at all times, a positive image of people with learning disabilities, Autism and mental health difficulties, the psychology service and wider Trust
To act as an advocate ensuring there is proper regard for people's dignity, choice, self-esteem and racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.
