Full Job Description

  • Assisting with preparing cost plans
  • Supporting in the collation of tender documents
  • Working with the Bills of Quantities team
  • Learn how to use measurement techniques for Quantity surveying
  • Assist in collating contract documents
  • Pre and post contract duties on a variety of commercial projects
  • Learning to prepare interim valuations, contract instructions and final accounts
  • Assisting in monthly financial reporting
  • Understanding the role of employer's agent and contract administrator within our projects.
  • Learn value management and assist in value engineering exercises (moved from PM)
  • Working on projects from development to completion
  • Assisting and producing cash flows
  • Training will be provided and guidance on existing processes and software will be given.

  • Requirements for a quantity surveying apprenticeship are as follows:
  • 3 x A Levels with an average B grade pass (C minimum).
  • Applicants should also have five GCSEs grade C or above or grade 5 to 9 (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to learn and develop your career and professional knowledge
  • A passion for construction projects

    RPS is looking for a highly motivated individual to become the next generation of our Birmingham Project and Cost Management Team as an apprentice. The role will be based in our brand-new Birmingham office. The position will suit someone with a real interest in construction management who enjoys learning about development and major residential and commercial schemes. We will facilitate and sponsor (including payment of course fees) the successful candidate on an RICS APC degree course undertaken part time. The remainder of the full-time post would be spent supporting our team undertaking project and cost consultancy activities on behalf of our clients.
