Assistant Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

Stantec has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic Building Services team in Reading.

You will be an integral part of a project team to deliver on multidisciplinary building services and environmental design projects. This role will provide support to the existing senior level engineering staff. The successful candidate will be able to take responsibility for the management of the design process for a range of infrastructure for predominantly private sector development schemes.

Key responsibilities will include supporting the production of mechanical designs and specifications for a wide variety of building projects; preparing technical drawings and overseeing CAD resources; assisting in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting; monitoring project progress and identifying potential issues; preparing and managing technical reports.

Last but not least, you will be joining the Consulting Firm of the Year at the 2023 NCE Awards recognised for our market success, as well as our focus on people and culture!

You will hold a degree in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or similar, and progressing towards your professional qualifications.

You will have experience in an M&E team ideally gained within a design engineering consultancy. You will also have the necessary skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders where you will be working closely with clients, and other professional staff across multi-disciplinary business groups.

You will have in depth knowledge and expertise in the design of mechanical engineering services, including systems and equipment design, calculations and drawing production as well as an understanding of design tools such as Revit and IES.

You will have an appreciation and experience of Technical Standards, planning policies and relevant British Standards and Building Regulations.
