Assistant Practitioner - Ophthalmology

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Practitioner to join our specialist Ophthalmic Theatre Team., ATPs are an integral part of the Surgical team. They perform circulating and scrub roles for a limited range of surgical cases. They work alongside Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) and Theatre Nurses to ensure that every operation is as safe and effective as possible. ATP's are expected to perform in the scrub role to exactly the same standard as an ODP or Theatre Nurse, albeit for a reduced range of cases. The ATP therefore needs a broad knowledge and skill base including communication skills requiring tact & persuasion, literacy and teamworking skills in order that they contribute to the smooth running of the theatre department.
