Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director to join our Corporate Real Estate ('CRE') Loan Syndicate, Sponsors & Structured Finance Team on a 12 month fixed term contract covering family leave. You'll support the team with all aspects of loan origination and syndication including coordination, underwriting, best efforts and broader loan distribution mandates. You'll work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with internal partners including the relevant CRE sector origination team, credit risk, portfolio management and loan sales team. You'll lead and support other members of the team in originating, structuring, pricing and distributing both secured and unsecured real estate loan instruments including Term Loan, RCF and Bridge facilities for both investment and development finance transactions. You'll negotiate commercial elements of loan facility documentation including Facility Agreement and Inter creditor Agreement amongst other legal documents. You'll coordinate syndication and distribution of underwritten loan positions in conjunction with loan sales and maintain and develop Lloyds Banks' investor network in the CRE loan market with both bank and non-bank institutions. You'll build positive relationships by keeping regular dialogue and representing Lloyds at industry events as well as assisting the wider syndicate team with shaping, driving and embedding the medium-term distribution strategy for CRE transactions as part of the broader Syndicate & Sales team strategy. Your accountabilities will include:

  • Working with CRE Originators to grow the business, lead on client pitches to win coordination, underwriting and best efforts mandates.
  • Taking a lead role in new deal structuring through Term Sheet negotiation, advising on loan market conditions as well as opining on market facing elements of the terms to ensure ability to successfully distribute loan facilities as required.
  • Leading / assisting primary syndication process including, creating information memorandums, answering investor questions, assisting Loan Sales with the trade settlement mechanics.
  • Developing relationships across the market, building wide market knowledge of the lending landscape to ensure successful delivery of syndicated financings for Lloyds Bank CRE clients as well as active management of Lloyds Bank balance sheet.
  • Leading negotiation, structuring and execution of loan documentation working with external advisors and internal partners.
  • Working on wider origination and syndication strategies to assist growth of CRE business.
  • Supporting junior resource including associates and graduates by sharing standard methodology as well as imparting technical and specialist CRE knowledge.
  • Taking ownership of ongoing team reporting for external league tables as well as internal finance and balance sheet reporting and reconciliation.

    Experience in Real Estate Origination or Syndication preferred with understanding of financing requirements across a wide variety or CRE asset classes. Wider real estate industry knowledge from advisory or professional services with transferable knowledge to CRE syndications could be considered.
  • Good understanding of the LMA CRE Investment and Development Finance documentation
  • Strong understanding of credit and financial analysis and their application in transaction structuring
  • Knowledge and experience of other debt financing and risk management products (e.g. bonds, USPPs, derivatives, CMBS)
  • Strong and established relationships with a broad range of borrowers, advisors, banks and investors
  • Proven track record of leading transactions from origination through to execution and of delivering successful client outcomes
