Full Job Description

We are looking for an innovative SAP Tax Solution Architect to design, develop and implement systems architecture that meet business needs, along with ensuring that our clients can keep pace with the changing tax and legal landscape. Your role will entail gathering requirements (both tax/ legal and business), analysing supply-chains and business processes to assess the required functional specifications, evaluating the current systems landscape and proposed future state in order to identify gaps and improvement areas, along with overseeing development/ managing junior team members. You will also be expected to regularly update the practice/service line on any new development in SAP tax functionalities or modules in future releases. To be successful in this role, you should be able to align the global Tax and Legal landscape with the business activities and proposed wider business processes. You will be the lynchpin between the Tax Function and IT Function, ensuring that we build the best SAP Tax design for the client. This will require the ability to explain complex terms to a variety of different stakeholders, and in a way that is relevant to each stakeholder group. You will also need to continually assess the SAP product suite and development roadmap to integrate any updated specifications and requirements into SAP system architecture. You will also need to integrate with the wider client project team (whether that is delivered by Deloitte Consulting or another Systems Integration partner). This will involve an understanding of how the tax design interacts with other process flows and also the inter-personal skills to build the required relationships. Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating the client's tax and business requirements to build the optimal SAP Tax design and/ or supplement with the right mix of alternative tax technology solutions
  • Design, build and integrate tax requirements and processes into SAP systems architecture (or wider tax technology solutions) to meet client's requirements
  • Assess systems architecture (SAP and other tax systems) currently in place and work with technical staff to recommend solutions (SAP or alternative solutions) to improve it or fill the gap
  • Assess business impact of technical choices made
  • Resolve technical problems as and when they arise
  • Develop/ maintain good working relationships with key client and internal stakeholders and keep them informed of challenges/ risks/ issues with technical solutions being implemented
  • Provide regular updates to key stakeholders on product development processes, costs and budgets, achievements against plan etc.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to development teams and manage junior resources/ team members
  • Continually research current and emerging technologies (SAP or others) and propose changes as part of Deloitte's S/4HANA Value Proposition

    Proven experience in Tax and SAP solution architecture design
  • Previous tax compliance and/ or tax advisory experience
  • Previous project management and delivery experience
  • In-depth understanding on SAP especially in its integration of other modules (knowledge of S/4HANA is advantageous)
  • Proven knowledge of Tax touchpoints within SAP (S/4HANA advantageous), and wider tax technology solutions
  • Efficient communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisation and leadership skills
