Full Job Description

Perform unsupervised work including activities that may be demanding and/or non-routine. Work under own initiative in order to undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvements, and capital work across the trust as directed, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures. To undertake training for new practices, procedures and equipment., To undertake all work activities as requested by the Mechanical Team Leader, Supervisor or Estates Officer.

To work in accordance with Trust safety rules and procedures at all times.

To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.

To actively participate in the operation of facilities labour control scheme, by completion of all paperwork and reports as required by the scheme.

Carry out all work on equipment as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Building and Construction Regulations and the Trust's Safety Policy.

To work overtime to carry out repairs/maintenance not possible during normal hours.

At all times when on duty, to carry Trust communication devices such as mobile telephones, two-way radios or pagers to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.

Uses all relevant diagnostic, and hand tools within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works.

Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses, damages and irregularities are documented and reported to a Manager in accordance with Trust policy.

Observe all fire precautions, undertake fire training as laid down in the Trust's standing orders and attend Fire Lectures at least once a year.

The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Trust's objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.
