Full Job Description
As a Behaviour LSA, you will play a critical role in supporting students with a range of additional needs within our nurturing SEN provision. You will work closely with children who may present challenging behaviours and require an individualised approach to learning. Your focus will be on promoting positive behaviour, emotional resilience, and engagement in learning activities, enabling these young people to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally., + Behavioural Support: Implement behaviour management strategies, de-escalate challenging situations, and encourage positive behaviours.
+ Individualised Learning: Work 1:1 and in small groups to tailor educational activities that meet the unique needs of each child.
+ Holistic Care: Provide emotional and social support, ensuring each child feels understood, valued, and motivated to engage in their learning environment.
+ Collaboration: Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to create and follow effective support plans.
+ Monitoring and Progress: Track student progress, behaviour, and engagement, maintaining accurate records and contributing to planning meetings and reviews.
We are seeking a proactive, compassionate, and patient individual who is experienced in working with children with SEMH, ASD, ADD, PDA, and other associated needs. Key skills and attributes include:
+ Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, ideally within an SEN or education setting.
+ Understanding of SEN: Knowledge of SEMH, ASD, ADD, and PDA and strategies for supporting these needs in an educational context.
+ Resilience and Patience: The ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations.
+ Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families.
+ Flexibility: Adaptability to meet the varying demands of the role and the diverse needs of students.
Qualifications and Experience
+ Previous experience as an LSA, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or similar role is preferred.
+ A relevant qualification in education, child development, psychology, or SEN is advantageous but not essential.
+ Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality.
