Full Job Description

Cadmus is seeking a Business Development Associate to join our BD team in the UK office (formerly known as Nathan London) of Cadmus' International Development Division. They will lead capture efforts for upcoming opportunities, serve as proposal manager for live bids, and manage a pipeline of business opportunities with bilateral and multilateral clients such as the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the World Bank and the European Union. The Business Development Associate will guide capture/proposal teams through business development processes and procedures in accordance with the company's established processes and best practices. They will designate and coordinate technical and administrative tasks to meet applicable deadlines, collaborate effectively with and manage internal and external subject matter experts, and represent the company to external stakeholders, including clients and partners. They will report to the Head of Business Development.,

  • Independently lead, manage and/or support the preparation of bid proposals (including the administrative, technical and commercial sections) in our practice areas
  • Undertake strategic analysis of business development opportunities through research on issues, countries, clients, partners and competitors
  • Gather market intelligence through desk-based research, business networks and active participation in events, workshops, and seminars
  • Support the scoping, building, managing and maintenance of operational partnerships
  • Track and assess new project opportunities and proactively contribute to marketing efforts to build a pipeline of high-quality business opportunities
  • Identify suitable partners and consultants for bids, undertaking negotiations and finalizing contracting arrangements
  • Undertake scoping and capture missions to target countries
  • Research costs and prepare detailed budgets and commercial tenders, and
  • Co-manage the frameworks where Cadmus participates

    At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with donor-funded projects in the Global South
  • Qualified to a university degree level or with equivalent years' work experience
  • Track record in managing large, complex proposals in response to invitations to tender issued by bilateral and multilateral donors
  • In depth knowledge of procurement and bidding processes for bilateral and multilateral donors
  • Demonstrable ability to synthesize and analyze large amounts of information and apply critical thinking skills
  • Experience communicating and networking with clients and key partners
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding English written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced in MS Word and Excel for presentation and formatting of documents
  • Flexibility to travel and work across different continents
  • Ability to work independently, lead and coordinate multicultural teams to achieve results
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience bidding for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)
  • Good understanding of at least one of Cadmus' key technical areas: private sector development; finance and investment; trade and trade logistics; economic policy and governance; climate, resilience, and energy; digital transformation; women's economic empowerment; and monitoring and evaluation
