Full Job Description
The Business Development team is a centralised function advising and supporting the Firm in its marketing, sales support, and business development activities. The key drivers for the team are to ensure we support the development and implementation of the firm's strategy and in particular help:
- Drive profitable revenue growth (through existing and new clients)
- Develop and deliver a clear brand proposition through our sector focus about the team and your role You will sit within our Business Development & Marketing Directorate providing support to the Finance & Projects Group. You will report directly to the Head of Group BD working with them to promote best practice advice and tactics across the Group, fostering a consultative, client focused approach to business development and marketing activities. You will enjoy a broad role, taking the lead in crafting, managing, and proactively executing the Groups BD plans providing support that is targeted, and focused on growing new work opportunities across our client base and sectors. You will lead on the Group business development and marketing strategy, aligning business growth plans alongside tactical marketing and business development delivery. You will work collaboratively with our sector, key client and International teams to ensure we identify and align new client work opportunities. You will also work alongside the Group Exec leadership team, working in partnership with the practice lead partners and Head of Group managing partner. Your energy and enthusiasm to bring new ideas on ways to engage with clients will be fundamental to the role!, As the Group Finance and Projects Business Development Manager, you'll be instrumental in driving strategic growth and enhancing cohesion across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Group - Business Development your role will involve;
- Collaborating with the Group Exec leadership team to formulate and refine business development strategies, craft supporting business development plans to support the growth opportunities, develop client targeting tactics which will foster greater alignment across the FS sector and other related sectors.
- Contributing insights and recommendations to prioritise 'hot topics' and strategic growth areas throughout the year, supporting leadership decisions with comprehensive business development plans.
- Lead on bids and capability statements for the Finance & Projects Group, providing support in client presentations and tailoring materials to individual clients, and diligently tracking successes while soliciting feedback for continuous improvement.
- Direct line management of a Senior BDE to support the F&P teams in their BD activities and queries and to manage F&P credentials across our content management platform.
- Partnering with the marketing team to orchestrate strategic growth campaigns, ensuring seamless integration with business development plans and tracking return on investment to optimise outcomes.
- Ownership and management of the business development budget, identifying costs for planned activities, and adhering to predefined budgets outlined in the business development plans.
- Developing and maintaining key messaging for the Finance & Projects Group across various marketing channels, including marketing materials, legal directories, and the website, in collaboration with marketing and communications teams.
- Proactively immersing yourself in understanding the Group's work and building a robust personal network within the Group and across relevant sectors, facilitating effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- You'll play a pivotal role in driving synergies across our sector teams, maximising opportunities, and fostering growth across the firm
Proven track record of driving successful business development initiatives within an international law firm or professional services organisation, with a specialised focus on the finance sector desired, including leading bids and pitches to secure new business opportunities. - Adaptability and flexibility to collaborate seamlessly across various functions, coupled with the ability to establish credibility and foster trust among partners and other stakeholders.
- Exceptional project management skills, enabling effective management of multiple responsibilities amidst competing priorities, tight deadlines, and evolving business dynamics, with a specific emphasis on managing bids and tenders from initiation to closure.
- Demonstrated leadership, including the ability to lead teams, delegate tasks effectively, and collaborate with specialist teams such as Communications and Marketing, particularly in the context of new to market propositions and thought leadership.
- Strong communication skills, encompassing the confidence to engage professionally with senior leadership, colleagues, and external stakeholders, facilitating effective collaboration and fostering strong relationships.
- Ideally, possessing a solid understanding of the finance legal environment, while also exhibiting a continuous learning mindset and innate curiosity to stay updated on industry trends and developments.
