Leadership & Management - Establish yourself as a supportive and responsive managerial leader for the medical staff in the Care Group, to maintain high quality medical standards. Being an integral part of the Care Group leadership SLT is key. Building pathways and place relationships - within and across Care Groups; with partners such as the local authority and Primary Care and within your Place Communities Delivering Safe and Therapeutic Care - Ensure clinical standards are maintained; support the clinical governance within the Care group and it remains effective; conduct complex investigations and policy development. Recruitment and Retention - to lead on recruitment and retention in relation to medical colleagues within the Care Group; Education and Research - Work with The Director of Medical Education and The Director of Undergraduate Medical Education to ensure that all trainees and medical students placed with the trust have a positive and rewarding experience during their time in the Care Group Clinical Effectiveness & Service improvement - foster and enhance culture of learning across the care group and support delivery in relation to clinical effectiveness process and service improvement Patient Safety and Patient Experience - work with the SLT Clinical Directors to actively promote and role model a healthy patient safety culture, Please see the job description/person specification on the website for all details of this role including main duties.

Essential

• MB ChB or equivalent
• Current GMC Registration with a license to practise
Desirable
• Post graduate qualification in leadership and management
• GMC registration without any restrictions
• s12 approval and Approved Clinician stats WRT the Mental Health Act (1983)
Experience Essential
• Suitably qualified medical practitioner
• Experience of developing and delivering presentations and/or training to large groups
• Broad and positive clinical experience
Desirable
• Management/leadership experience in the NHS
• Experience of people management including doctors
• Detailed knowledge of the current issues within the NHS
• Experience of leading on research projects and audit
• Experience of effective partnership working with a range of agencies and stakeholders, Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983) and the Mental Capacity Act (2005)
• Understanding of clinical risk management and the ability to put this into practice as expert advisor within risk management
• An understanding of the regulatory framework of the GMC
Desirable
• Working knowledge and experience in the use of the quality improvement tool in practice
• An understanding of medical revalidation and appraisal processes
• An understanding of financial management systems and budgets within the NHS
• An understanding of regional and national structures and regulators (ICBs, CQC, NHS England, NHS Providers), Demonstrates an ability to manage complex situations
• Demonstrable ability to lead people in difficult situations and manage disagreement
• Ability to translate police into practice
• Ability to work within clear performance targets and indicators
• Ability to negotiate, shape and influence local service development involving partner agencies and key stakeholders
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to lead, motivate and empower others to achieve objectives and aspirations
• Ability to assimilate information, analyse data triangulate themes and present to others
Desirable
• Experience of service redesign
• Financial and budgetary management experience
• Expertise in undertaking investigations with the ability to determine outcomes and produce recommendations
• Project management qualification or equivalent experience
Other Essential
• Will be required to travel on a regular basis across the trust wide footprint and to organisations external to the trust
Desirable
• Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area
