Full Job Description

  • Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives.
  • Receiving and acting upon first notifications and updates, determining coverage.
  • Taking a fair and proportionate approach towards policy holders
  • Agreeing valid claims
  • Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required
  • Representing the syndicate at market meetings, leading meetings where appropriate
  • Maintaining compliance with internal and external risk controls and regulatory requirements
  • Notifying and reporting claims notifications to underwriters and senior management where necessary.
  • Handling major claim through discovery process and dispute resolution.
  • Managing multiple claims in your class of business and in multiple jurisdictions.

    Experience in handling direct and facultative reinsurance claims in the classes of Cargo; Fine Art & Specie; Marine Hull; Marine Liability; Crisis Management; Political Risk / Trade Credit; Upstream Energy
  • Experience in Treaty and Aviation, would be an advantage.
  • Detailed understanding of the London Market regulatory environment and implications for Talbot and our clients.
  • Full working knowledge of market systems and DocoSoft.
  • Ability to identify trends and understand how these may affect Claims and the Syndicate more broadly.
