Full Job Description
Do you have an eye for detail? Are you an excellent team player? We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious Clerical Officer to join the Clinical Coding Team within Digital and Information Services.
The Clinical Coding team are responsible for coding all inpatient and day case episodes within the Trust, working to strict monthly deadlines, as coded data directly affects the income received by the Trust.
The post holder will work as part of a small team, responsible for the provision of a robust support service to the Clinical Coders, by ensuring that case notes and other documents needed for coding are made available, thereby contributing to the accuracy and timeliness of coding within the Trust.
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and act as an ambassador for the department, building and maintaining relationships outside the department to ensure smooth running of the clerical support service. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring that case notes are returned to the appropriate areas within agreed time limits, after completion of clinical coding.
The post involves transporting and manual handling of large volumes of case notes and using initiative in working to strict monthly deadlines. Applicants should highlight how they meet the criteria through their employment history, qualifications and within their supporting information., + To be responsible for the management of casenotes relating to outstanding clinical coding office, this will involve:
o Identifying episodes of care that require clinical coding using the Trust's Core Patient Database (CPD) and printing backlog lists using Microsoft Excel
o The collection and delivery of casenotes to and from wards and departments throughout the hospital.
o Scanning inpatient documentation where required
+ Receive general enquiries,from, patients, visitors, staff and others, both internal and external, resolving routine enquiries where appropriate or making judgements on the most relevant referral point.
+ Undertake basic Clerical tasks, such as, for example, production and
issuing of already prepared standard and routine letters, distribution of incoming/outgoing post, filing, retrieval of files, photocopying and
completion of standard Forms/Returns including the ordering of stock and supplies.
+ May be required to type/word process routine letters and other
appropriate documents.
In the absence of a designated Receptionist, to maintain, or contribute to, the Department/Area's appointments system.
+ Input data to relevant computerised databases, and interrogate such databases for standard information

The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking.
