Full Job Description

  • To perform highly specialist assessment and treatment of patients, in particular those with Persistent Pain, to facilitate a smooth, efficient and effective patient pathway
  • To determine a clinical diagnosis, develop, deliver, implement, evaluate and modify individualised treatment programmes and/or provide highly specialist advice, ensuring appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required.
  • To manage own highly specialist caseload in this area.
  • Establish relationships with other stakeholders and services involved in the care of chronic pain patients.
  • To support and advise other pain services, eg Pain Clinic, on the delivery of the service.
  • To educate and train Physiotherapists and qualified and non-qualified healthcare / social services / education staff including medical staff.
  • To work autonomously within Trust policies and standards of professional practice, maintaining accurate and comprehensive up to date records.
  • To assist the Team Leader in the daily operational management of the Out-Patient Physiotherapy Team.

    MSK Physiotherapy Services at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced physiotherapist to join our team as Clinical Lead in Chronic Pain.
  • The post-holder will play a key role, alongside our Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in Pain, in helping to re-design physiotherapy pain services in line with latest guidelines and provide support and training to the wider physiotherapy team. The ability to build relationships with other services involved in the care of patients with chronic pain is essential. We seek a motivated and innovative individual with strong communication and problem-solving skills and will offer support for training and development as required for this post. Candidates must have previous NHS physiotherapy experience either as an undergraduate or postgraduate to be eligible to apply for this post

    There are extensive Learning Centres at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, both centres are equipped with audio-visual equipment. There is also a library at the Calderdale Hospital site with a full range of journals plus intranet and electronic access. In 2015 the Trust invested in a purpose built simulated 2 bed ward at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary which can be altered to be an emergency medicine bay, a theatre/ICU area or a clinic setting. There is also a simulation training room at Calderdale Royal Hospital equipped with control rooms. There are simulation manikins on both site, SimMan 3G, SimMom, SimJunior and SimBaby. All healthcare workers are able to access relevant training sessions for their role.
