Full Job Description

Assisting with testing, commissioning, and cleaning of new Oyster Yachts for the entire range and crewing Oyster yachts for local movements, sea trials, handover sails and offshore deliveries.,

  • Working to pre-agreed targets and schedules set by the Commissioning Manager and the Commissioning Skipper (CS) in undertaking the commissioning, rigging and launching of Oyster Yachts. This includes the occasional need to work at heights aloft, up a mast. Training will be provided, and Oyster's Safe Systems of Work must be adhered to at all times.
  • Work with the brokers and Oyster Yachts Brokerage accounts in regard to the Yacht Storage and Care Program (YSCP).
  • Test and prepare new yachts, under the direction of the Commissioning Skipper, the Commissioning Manager and Project Manager responsible, ready to hand them over to their owner.
  • Manage the maintenance of the Oyster Yachts Brokerage Ipswich Fleet as per the YSCP.
  • Carry out Builders' Trials and assist in Client Handover Trials.
  • Assist the Commissioning Skipper and the Commissioning Manager in improving Quality Control.
  • Report on problems that appear to be repetitive and draw attention to areas of poor finishing or design, where improvements could be made.
  • Check on quality and specification to ensure the end product is presented to the client with minimal warranty faults or defects. The target always is "zero defects at handover".
  • Provide liaison through your Commissioning Skipper and the Commissioning Manager with Oyster clients, Oyster Build yards and suppliers during commissioning and handover.
  • Assist with the set-up and breakdown of boat shows, both in the UK and abroad, including occasional delivery passages of showboats to their destinations. This may on occasion involve working anti-social hours, e.g. over parts of the Christmas & New Year holiday period.
  • Support Aftersales and Warranty, where required, including overseas trips for vessels abroad.
  • Assist clients with their initial delivery passages, by prior arrangement with the Commissioning Manager and the respective Project Manager.
  • Keeping control of Oyster store sheds and Commissioning Department office's external to the main office building and the storage therein of both Oyster's and Owner's equipment prior to handover.
  • Maintain Oyster's good image with all client contact, including advice, handover, warranty and after-sales, both during business and social activities.
  • Undertake day-to-day maintenance, cleaning and valeting of Oyster-owned yachts and clients yachts at Ipswich, when they remain under the general Oyster "umbrella" of care. This work will sometimes involve some dirty tasks to be carried out in inclement weather conditions.
  • Work under the company's Health and Safety rules & regulations, respecting the Company policy in aiming for a very high standard.

  • Other Requirements Travel / working from different sites, a Full UK Driving Licence, Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of employment checks i.e. Right to work, not essential. Knowledge of HR / recruitment processes, desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Skills Strong IT skills, competent user of Microsoft Office i.e. Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint . Planning and organising. Customer service, specifically to internal customers i.e. employees and managers. Data analysis, able to review and manipulate / sort / filter data sets using Excel. Experience Extensive administrative background in a small to medium-sized business. Letter drafting, reviewing and checking. Adobe Sign or similar. Recruitment and selection administration experience, not essential. HR / Recruitment system or similar system, as admin user experience. Qualifications GCSEs to include Math and English or equivalent level. Microsoft Office trained or certified, desirable. Other Requirements Able to travel to other Norfolk / Suffolk sites and on occasion other UK sites or venues. Current UK Driving License Additional and or flexibility on hours may be required.
