Full Job Description

As the Children & Young People Commissioned Placements Team Manager, you will oversee the commissioning and management of placements for children and young people, ensuring each placement is suitable and meets high-quality standards. You'll be responsible for implementing strategic planning, managing resources, and leading a team dedicated to providing effective placement solutions that respond to the diverse needs of children and young people.,

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team responsible for assessing, commissioning, and monitoring placements for children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with social work teams, education, health, service providers, and external agencies to secure high-quality placements.
  • Ensure placement services comply with statutory, regulatory, and safeguarding standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of commissioned placements, implementing improvement plans as needed.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices to enhance service delivery.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, aligning with organisational priorities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for complex placement cases, providing guidance and resolution strategies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team delivers child-centered, cost-effective, and responsive services.

    A degree in Social Work, Social Care, or a related field, with relevant professional registration
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a social work manager
  • Thrive in a fast paced "duty" environment
  • Demonstrable experience in managing placements for children and young people within a social care or similar setting
  • Proven experience in team management, including supervision, staff development, and performance management
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and regulatory requirements related to children's placements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in budget management, contract management, and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to utilise data in order to inform team management, team development, and resource allocation
