This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in the world of climate and environmental policy making. We are looking for an exceptional communicator to join our team as a Communications Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for amplifying our work, engaging key stakeholders, and building a strong network through clear, persuasive, and strategic communication. You'll play a crucial role in translating complex environmental and societal issues into accessible messages and driving engagement with our target audiences, in higher education, civil society, third sector and government. The £6.25m, ESRC funded Advancing Capacity for Climate and Environment Social Science (ACCESS) network is now in its third year, (2022-27) and moving into a new phase, building on what has been established and increasing our reach and outputs to ensure a lasting legacy and policy impact. Working across four work packages the post-holder will be the lead communications professional dedicated to this project working with a wide range of leading academics across the UK and the globe, as well as devolved governments, research centres and nature organisations like Natural Resources Wales, NatureScot, Natural England, Environment Agency and Forest Research. The post-holder will utilise best practice in communications to promote the ACCESS project, the growing network of environmental social scientists and research. The post-holder will need to be a communications all-rounder with expertise in all media as well as stakeholder communications. A good understanding of local and national policymaking and a proven record of engagement and impact would be advantageous. Experience and passion for communicating environment and climate research, particularly social science, will also be useful. The post-holder will also provide support for the ACCESS Project Manager, Sarah Baker, working alongside the Project Administrator and working closely with the ACCESS Leadership Team and Knowledge Exchange Fellows. Whilst line managed by the Project Manager, they will also have a dotted line report to Duncan Sandes, Deputy Head of Press and Public Affairs team in the University's External Engagement and Global Division supporting the University's strategic objectives on the environment, climate and sustainability.
