If so, then we would love for you to apply!, The Cyber Team in the Transport Security Directorate (TSD) is recruiting a Higher Executive Officer (HEO) to support the delivery of a cyber incident response and cyber exercising function. This is an exciting role where you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert on cyber security and resilience in the transport sector, as well as develop experience in exercising and response work.
You will play a key role in the departmental response to cyber incidents impacting the transport sector and support development of a cyber exercising programme, which meets the needs of departmental and industry stakeholders.
Leading on discrete pieces of work, you will build relationships with a range of teams and senior officials across the department, as well as high-profile stakeholders across government and industry to ensure cohesive incident response and identify valuable exercising opportunities.
You will work as part of a supportive team to deliver real impact and improve the cyber resilience of the UK transport sector. This will involve building on lessons learned from cyber incidents and identified threats, to inform policy and regulatory levers.
TSD invests significantly in training and developing staff to prepare them not just for an interesting and challenging job, but also for a rewarding career in the Government security and cyber profession. Our expectation is that our staff will remain in post for at least two years., + Support on cyber incident management and exercising across DfT, working closely with modal teams and intelligence partners to develop DfTs incident management policy.
+ Support on development and delivery of a DfT Cyber Exercising Programme, ensuring that exercising opportunities are reflective of emerging risks and lessons identified during previous incidents.
+ Help to lead the departmental policy response to a cyber incident impacting the transport sector. Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to understand the details of the incident and provide accurate internal briefing to relevant seniors and colleagues.
+ Contribute to improving DfT cyber incident response processes in the round, particularly how DfT can support industry during a cyber incident.
+ Act as a cyber champion across the department, working closely with operational, security and resilience leads in DfT and across government to support industry.
+ Be an active and visible member of NSD and the directorate corporate work strands.
+ Be an active part of DfTs cyber incident response cohort.
For an in-depth insight into the role please refer to the Role Profile., A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
Occasional travel to other DfT offices will be required.
You will be expected to work flexibly and adapt to changing environments and priorities across the team, wider Division and Directorate. This may include occasional out of hours working but we make every effort to allow for your personal circumstances.
This role requires DV clearance; however, candidates will be onboarded with SC clearance and undergo DV whilst in post.

The sift is due to take place from w/c 13th January 2025.
Interviews/assessments are likely to be held w/c 27th January 2025.
