Data Engineer

PSD Consulting working with a large Financial Services business supporting them with a number of business initiatives for a large Digital strategy piece and are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Azure Data Engineer with strong experience in Power BI development. As Data Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering actionable Business Intelligence and scalable data solutions for the company and play a pivotal role in ongoing projects. Leeds based, with a hybrid working model of circa 2 days a week in the office key responsibilities will include: 1. Data Engineering and Management:

• Design, Develop, and Maintain Scalable Data Pipelines:
• Use Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics to design efficient and reliable data pipelines.
Implement and Manage Azure Data Lake Storage:
• Develop and maintain robust data storage solutions leveraging Azure Data Lake Storage.
Optimize and Troubleshoot ETL Processes:
• Ensure data integrity, availability, and performance by optimizing ETL workflows and resolving any data pipeline issues.
Data Modelling and Database Management:
• Design, implement, and manage data models, databases, and data warehouses using Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB.
2. Power BI Development:
• Design and Develop Interactive Dashboards and Reports:
• Create Power BI dashboards that offer actionable insights for business stakeholders, helping them make data-driven decisions.
Collaborate with Business Users:
• Work closely with business teams to understand their data needs and translate those requirements into technical specifications for Power BI solutions.
Optimize Power BI Data Models:
• Enhance the performance and scalability of Power BI reports by optimizing data models.
Ensure Data Accuracy and Consistency:
• Guarantee that all Power BI reports and dashboards maintain high data quality and consistency.
3. Integration and Collaboration:
• Work with Cross-Functional Teams:
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and IT teams to integrate data from various sources, creating comprehensive data solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Partner with business stakeholders to ensure that the data solutions align with business goals and objectives.
Provide Support and Training:
• Offer ongoing support and training to end-users on using Power BI and other related data tools.
4. Continuous Improvement:
• Stay Up to Date with Emerging Trends:
• Continuously update skills and knowledge regarding the latest trends in Azure data services and Power BI.
Process Improvement and Automation:
• Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, implementing automation to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
Monitor System Performance:
• Regularly monitor the performance of data systems and dashboards, recommending improvements where necessary.
  
  Proven Experience with Azure Data Services:
• Strong background in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
Expertise in Power BI Development:
• Extensive experience designing, developing, and optimizing Power BI dashboards and reports.
Experience with Data Warehousing & Modeling:
• Familiarity with Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, and data modelling best practices.
Strong SQL Skills:
• Solid understanding of SQL queries and performance optimization techniques.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
• Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve data pipeline, ETL, and Power BI performance issues.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Excellent communication skills for working closely with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
Continuous Learning and Improvement:
• Commitment to keeping up with advancements in data technology and Power BI.
Desirable Skills:
• Certifications in Azure or Power BI (eg, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, Power BI certifications).
• Experience with Azure Machine Learning or Azure AI is a plus.
• Power Query and DAX proficiency for advanced Power BI solutions.
