Great! This is a great time join a very busy team who offer crucial help and assessments in delivering the work of the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund and the Household Support Fund. Are you passionate about helping others in times of need? Join the Derbyshire Discretionary Fund (DDF) team and make a meaningful difference in your community. We are looking for a detail-oriented and empathetic DDF Case Advisor to assess and process applications, ensuring support is provided efficiently and effectively. What will you be doing? As a DDF Case Advisor, you will:

  • Assess applications thoroughly, making independent decisions within policy frameworks.
  • Liaise with applicants, support workers, and social care professionals to gather essential information.
  • Administer awards and payments, ensuring accurate records and timely processing.
  • Offer advice and guidance to applicants, professionals, and internal colleagues.
  • Develop and deliver briefings to increase awareness of DDF services.
  • Maintain knowledge of welfare benefits and local services to signpost applicants effectively.

    Are you able to plan and organise your own workload?
  • Have you experience in dealing with the public and able to treat people with empathy and understanding?, You'll have:
  • Strong administrative or financial experience.
  • Proven ability to liaise with external agencies and provide excellent customer service.
  • Solid IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with welfare benefits systems (desirable).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to communicate sensitively and empathetically with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Flexible Working Considered, minimum 6-month contract
