Full Job Description

Chelmsford City Council is looking for an enthusiastic Democratic Services Officer to join the team., This post will support the Democracy Team Manager in administering the Council's Democratic decision making structure and processes. This will include ensuring Members have the means and information to carry out, through formal meetings, their deliberative and decision-making duties. The successful candidate will be expected to deal with Committee administrative duties related to their assigned meetings and to have experience in attending and administering these with the minimum of supervision., The majority of Chelmsford's Committee meetings are held at 7pm, therefore there is a requirement to work evenings as part of the role.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience dealing with Councillors and Senior Officers and providing advice on governance matters. In addition to this they will have a sound understanding of the relevant legislation and either hold the ADSO certificate or be willing to work towards it. They should be committed, well-organised and able to work effectively as part of a team in a high pressurised environment.
