Full Job Description

Deputy Director Analysis Function & Statistics is responsible for overseeing the regular and ad-hoc collection and publication of statistics on public health protection topics and; ensuring publications comply with the relevant codes of practice; support quality assurance of releases. The Deputy Director will also lead a programme of work to grow and embed the Government's Functional Standards for Analysis in UKHSA. This includes leading on Analytical Quality Assurance for the Agency.

The UKHSA Analysis Function & Statistics Division sits within the CDO - Chief Data office Group within UKHSA. The role will manage the Statistics Production teams and Analytical Quality Assurance teams located at UKHSA-identified office locations.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for owning and managing the entire divisional budget on delegation from the CDO. The post-holder will be expected to secure all necessary funding through SR processes, ensuring impact and value for money to the taxpayer.

Acting as Head of Profession for Official Statistics, responsible for publications/transparency activity streams and complying with the Code of Practice for Statistics, on behalf of UKHSA.

In addition, we are responsible for several formal transformational programmes of work (both technical and compliance) that we believe will substantially improve UKHSA's ability to maximise its ability to derive insight from health data lawfully and ethically.

The division also leads on Analytical Quality Assurance for the Agency, ensuring that all analysis and modelling is being done to Aqua Book standards. In addition the Division plays a co-ordinating role with the Analytical Heads of Profession to ensure that UKHSA is adhering to Government Analysis Functional Standards across all aspects of analysis; this includes leading the secretariat for the Analysis Function Board.

This Deputy Director role is suitable for hybrid working, but we will expect attendance at leadership events in London from time to time as well as any travel necessary to attend sites across the UKHSA estate as required.
