Full Job Description

Theatres and Day Surgery is a fast paced and exciting Service Line to work for in the Trust. This is an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team that works cohesively with the aim of delivering excellent patient centred care.

The post holder will have operational responsibility for Service Line Departments and will develop and support delivery of transformation/improvement projects within the Surgical Division and deputise for the General Manager as required.

Operational delivery of theatre (acute and community) utilisation. Management of scheduling team and lead for performance reporting as directed by the General Manager/Clinical Service Lead.

Development and delivery of transformation/improvement projects according to a standardised project management framework and pre-determined timelines to ensure integration of projects and systems with the Trust Project Management Officer (PMO).

Ensure Service Line transformation/improvement projects are integrated into Trust business plans and service delivery operational plans; in alignment with Trust objectives and standing financial instruct of projects, identifying people/ information resources, timescales, monitoring and control; including tracking and highlighting benefit realisation.

Main duties of the job

Develop appropriate systems and processes with the Nursing Lead, GM and SD to ensure operational effectiveness across the service key performance indicators.

Identify the impact of changes to the service and future resourcing requirements where appropriate. Use activity information to actively manage demand and capacity of the service.

Ensure that systems and processes are in place to achieve patient access standards and activity targets with the available resources.Contribute to the strategic planning of the service, developing services in line with the Trust's strategic direction.

Assist in the preparation of business cases for all aspects of the theatre department activities.

Develop best practice, service modernisation and improvement plans for the area, in line with Directorate and Trust strategy to enhance the patient experience and deliver value for money.

Work collaboratively with senior clinical and non-clinical colleagues of services supported by theatres to develop effective relationships and implement potential service improvements as appropriate.

Deliver against objectives, achieving quality outcomes, prioritising own workload, and working to tight deadlines.
