Full Job Description

In the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), we are proud of our purpose - to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you would like to work in, we would love to hear from you.

The Behavioural Programmes Unit Digital and Data team in DHSC are a dynamic and growing team with a great culture. Our team works in an agile, user-centred way. As digital and technology are critical to delivery in health and social care, there are plenty of opportunities for interesting and exciting work.

Our work encompasses the overall strategy for services to prevent ill-health, such as the NHS Health Check, NHS screening programmes, marketing and other behavioural programmes to motivate and support the public to make changes that contribute to better health and reduced health inequalities. The government's Health Mission is to build a Health and Social Care system fit for the future with the aim of shortening the amount of time people spend in poor health. Our work directly supports this mission led government with a focus on preventing ill-health through prevention. Including: tackling obesity, reducing smoking, reducing alcohol harms from excessive consumption and improving physical inactivity. We achieve this by working closely with agencies and cross departmental stakeholders such as policy teams, to develop and continuously improve our digital products that encourage healthy behavioural change - such as getting active (NHS Couch to 5K, NHS Active 10), losing weight (NHS Weight
Loss Plan), eating healthy (NHS Food Scanner) or quitting smoking (NHS Quit Smoking). We champion inclusive design and accessibility and are passionate about reducing health inequalities.

We're looking for a Digital Product Lead to drive product strategy for multiple live NHS services that are used by millions of citizens every week. A role with high visibility across senior leadership, this position will be responsible for ensuring that DHSC/NHS England (NHSE) digital products and supporting campaigns are delivered in a timely and accurate manner. The digital portfolio is comprised of multiple touchpoints on across NHS.UK, iOS and Android and are designed to support users with the skills and knowledge to make healthier lifestyle choices using evidence-based behaviour change tactics.

Additionally, the role will explore the application of AI to aid user journeys. This person will be expected to use data to contribute to insights, product development and evaluation across the digital portfolio. The ideal candidate will be an experienced product owner with expertise in implementing comprehensive logged in experiences, as well as being someone who understands the importance of data and analytics in demonstrating product impact.

The post holder will be responsible for product lifecycle ensuring that all necessary systems and processes are in place and in line with product development sprints and roadmaps. They will work closely with other team members and external agencies to coordinate workstreams across multiple products. Additionally, the post holder will oversee the assurance process with NHSE and DHSC Digital and to ensure Government Digital Service Standards are adhered to through product lifecycles.
