Your role in our journey
As an Education Welfare Officer, you will develop positive working relationships with schools, academies, and families. You will identify pupils who are not attending regularly and create robust responses to improving the whole school attendance. You will also work alongside schools to improve inclusion and access to education.
You will undertake partnership working with parents and pupils to identify need and negotiate pathways to ensure all pupils attend school regularly and achieve their best possible outcomes.
What you'll need
To join us, you'll need 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field, with a willingness to work towards an NVQ level 4. You will also have experience of working in home school liaison to negotiate positive outcomes for pupils; you'll bring to the role, knowledge, experience and skills required to complete assessments in line with Barnsley's assessment and threshold criteria. Your good communication skills and proven ability to keep records up to date will support you in providing and presenting evidence-based reports. You will be flexible in your approach and can work under pressure.
