Full Job Description

Responsible to: The Health, Safety & Environment Manager. The post holder will be required to:

  • Co-ordinate the Environmental assessments (Aspects & Impacts) process for the site and the associated risk reduction plans.
  • Provide support and advice to employees and managers in relation to Health and Safety and Environmental issues on site, involving other members of the HS&E team to provide specialist guidance when necessary.
  • Support through collection of data and reporting of figures to the regulator, the verification of COMAH and environmental permit compliance.
  • Undertake assessment of noise, vibration and air quality across the site in association with other HS&E Team members.
  • Undertake analysis of surface and treated water and other discharge samples to verify batch release and determine permit and consent compliance
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement of HS&E management systems on site through generation of procedures and working practices that support continuous improvement of HS&E performance.
  • Investigate accidents and spills on site, supporting departmental managers to undertake local investigations where appropriate and identify and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Undertake Audits of the HS&E management systems, identify improvements and progress actions through to completion
  • Provide reports and dashboards both to the HS&E Manager and to departments to support continuous monitoring and improvement processes.
  • Provide HS&E input to site projects as and when required.
  • Other reasonable duties as required by the department, as determined by HS&E Manager.
  • Develop and implement the computerised systems of the company to support HS&E function.
  • Staff Co-ordinated: No direct reports - part of the wider HS&E Team. Complementary Description Working Relationships: The post holder is required to:
  • Support the HS&E Team deputising for others where necessary,
  • Support the effluent treatment area through the analysis of samples.
  • Act as an advisor and support for the wider workforce with regard to HS&E issues, demonstrating good practices through actions.
  • Work with managers and senior leaders to drive HS&E compliance.
  • Act as Lead for the EMS system including planning of continuous improvement, monitoring of performance and supporting both internal and external auditing
  • Act as the liaison to the Environment Agency and Severn Trent (Enforcing authorities) for the discharges off site and with the management of the COMAH compliance on site.

    The post holder must be able to operate independently and flexibly, but within pre-determined guidelines and procedures.
  • They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of discretion and sensitivity whilst maintaining confidentiality, They must possess the interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to work effectively at all levels within the company. They will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of Health & Safety and/or Environmental regulation. Chemical expertise and COSHH management skills, highly desirable Computer literate and with good administrative ability. SharePoint skills advantageous. Qualifications:
  • Minimum of IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management (or equiv)
  • Preferred NEBOSH Certificate (or equiv)
