Full Job Description

As the Events Audience Development & Promotions Officer, you'll thrive on being a creative individual and the opportunity to lead on the marketing and promotion of a variety of cultural events and activities on Millennium Square., As our Events Audience Development & Promotions Officer, you'll have a strong passion for the arts and outdoor events and the ability to coordinate and implement targeted event specific marketing and promotional campaigns. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude, be able to work on their own initiative and calmly under pressure across multiple projects simultaneously., To support the day-to-day delivery and promotion of the city centre events programme, leading on audience development and all event marketing, communication, web and digital strategies for Millennium Square, Leeds Lights and Leeds Big Screen,

  • To raise the awareness, profile and promotion of Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens city centre event spaces in support of the delivery of a varied programme of annual and occasional events and cultural projects
  • To coordinate and implement targeted event specific promotional campaigns as required including writing and approving of event copy and creating/overseeing the design and printing of all promotional material and event advertising
  • To coordinate the day-to-day management and continuous development of the Millennium Square (and associated) and Leeds Lights websites in compliance with service directives, corporate governance, accessibility and legibility standards.
  • To identify, create and implement engaging content across all Millennium Square social media platforms
  • To evaluate and review all marketing activity and audience engagement practices through audience surveys, monitoring ticket sales, analysing data and producing evaluation reports
  • To deliver marketing campaigns within set budgets as authorised by the Events Manager and raise purchase orders in accordance with LCC Corporate Procedure Rules and financial management systems
  • To work closely with internal colleagues to support the wider promotional, marketing, communication and ticketing functions of the Arts, Events & Venues service
  • To work collaboratively with the Central Communications, Visit Leeds, Leeds Inspired and Digital Access teams to oversee the development and placement of event specific campaigns across various council platforms including planning and updating all editorial content and ensuring information is correctly and legibly displayed
  • To explore and build strong relationships with a wide range of external partners and key city stakeholders
  • To efficiently manage all booking enquiries for Leeds Big Screen working closely with the client from enquiry stage through to delivery on site, responding promptly and professionally to requests for information, whilst maintaining an efficient system of administration and contractual paperwork
  • To upload and manage screen content and accounts and proactively support and motivate Leeds City Council cultural, community organisations to upload their content to the Leeds Big Screen
  • To line manage the Events Promotions and Support Officer with all aspects of their day-to-day work and in supporting other colleagues where appropriate
  • To oversee the day-to-day management of the events and big screen databases, telephone systems and social media messages, at all times promoting the highest level of customer care in dealing with all general public enquiries and complaints in a timely manner in accordance with Leeds City council corporate guidelines
  • To oversee the coordination and distribution of the events calendar for Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens, including updating and cross referencing the information on to the shared venues Artifax system
  • To assist where required in the live event delivery in or around the city including working unsocial hours and weekends
  • To undertake the accountabilities of the post in accordance with corporate values and priorities and council policies including Equal Opportunities and due regard for Health, Safety and Welfare at all times

    As the Events Audience Development & Promotions Officer you will bring to the role:
  • Experience of managing social media campaigns and working across multiple digital platforms
  • Experience of website design and development
  • Knowledge of ticketing systems, customer service delivery, engagement and relationship management
  • Able to work and contribute effectively as part of a close-knit team, Qualifications A Level 5 (Diploma, NVQ or equivalent) qualification in marketing & communications is desirable but not essential
  • Essential requirements It is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

  • Excellent knowledge (working) of the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel)
  • Excellent literacy and attention to detail
  • An understanding of local government working and issues facing the public sector
  • Experience of delivering projects and initiatives in a service or operational area relevant to the post
  • Experience in website design and development
  • Experience of managing social media campaigns and working across multiple digital platforms
  • Experience of working within set budgets
  • Experience of relationship building networking in partnership with a range of service providers and stakeholders
  • Experience of working effectively with others within a team environment
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours and weekends, Desirable requirements It is desirable that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates are not required to meet all the desirable requirements however these may be used to distinguish between candidates.
  • Ability to use design software (such as Abode Photoshop or similar) and a variety of Content Management Systems
  • An understanding of the Guide to Health Safety and Welfare at Pop Concerts and similar events
  • Knowledge of the Council's key ambition and strategic plans
  • Experience of working in the live event and entertainment industry
  • Experience of working within local government
  • Demonstrates an enthusiasm for working within the outdoor events industry
  • Demonstrates an understanding and awareness of working in a political environment
