Full Job Description
The West Midlands and South West Area Team is part of the Cities and Local Growth Unit. It is a joint team between the Department for Business and Trade and the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. The Unit represents Governments local growth work across the whole of the UK, focusing on relationships with local partners and delivery across local growth, communities, devolution and industrial strategy.
Area teams are experts on places. We have a strong grasp of the facts and figures, but facts and figures dont explain a place. We understand local individuals and institutions, issues and opportunities. We know how places feel. We know their history. We can tell stories about them and work with them to deliver change to deliver central Government priorities on economic growth.
We are looking for an individual keen to help support two Deputy Directors and the team to drive economic development across the two regions we cover and someone who has a real passion for the area. You will need to be adaptable and resilient, ready to be flexible to accommodate change. You will be bringing people together, and will need to be able to maintain positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation. Moreover, you will need to be able to come up with fresh approaches and new ideas for better ways to do things within the team, and in the wider unit.

We would love to see applications from a diverse range of candidates., + Providing executive support to the West Midlands/South-West Deputy Directors (job share) this will include diary and in-box management, coordinating briefings, and assigning actions.
+ Work with area leads on briefings, visits, correspondence and Parliamentary Questions.
+ Organise and create regular comms to the team, highlighting key messages and programme updates
+ Horizon scanning to identify and resolve emerging issues.
+ Support knowledge / information management for the teams - building, maintaining and improving a series of systems which provide our teams with high quality information about our places.
+ Providing corporate support for the teams through co-ordination of team meetings, forward planning and managing team priorities.
+ Supporting Team and Group corporate activities as necessary- provide cross team support as required on wider team meetings, visits and emerging projects as required., We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:
