Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit, select and train someone for a permanent position of Fire Fighter that possesses a high level of physical fitness, combined with a suitable standard of academic ability to form part of our Rescue & Firefighting Service (RFFS). This exciting role for the successful applicant offers potential development opportunities to progress into other roles within the RFFS. Initial training will consist of both practical and theoretical inputs aimed at developing the recruit to a level that enables them to fully contribute to the operational requirements, to include the successful resolution of an emergency situation., The selection process will include :

  • Physical Assessment
  • Academic Assessments
  • Interview
  • Final call for a Fire Fighter! This post requires access through the Critical Part at the Airport and therefore in line with Department for Transport regulations; you will be required to demonstrate during the recruitment process, that you have no relevant criminal record.

    As a Fire Fighter you will be expected to rigorously comply with all operational instructions, maintain a high degree of physical fitness and go through a system of refresher training, to ensure that your technical competence is maintained to the standards demanded of the role / Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Within this role you are expected to work well under pressure and remain resilient within challenging situations. You should also be competent to work at height and confined spaces. The successful applicant must have the ability to demonstrate skill and competence aligned to a Firefighting role. They should also maintain excellent standards and demonstrate teamwork. They will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, more specifically; Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Furthermore the applicant must hold a full UK driving licence and an LGV licence is desirable but not essential.
