Full Job Description
We are excited to recruit an experienced healthcare leader to join UCLH as General Manager for Head & Neck and Thoracic Surgery. This is a pivotal role within a fast-paced department. It is ideal for a confident and ambitious operational manager wishing to join a highly dedicated award-winning MDT team.
As a senior member of the management team, you proactively identify and drive improvement opportunities. This work will cover a wide range of services and challenges in the inpatient and outpatient settings, within our medical and administrative teams. The post demands a comprehensive understanding of cancer performance as well as a passion for managing advances in treatment pathways. You will operationally lead the delivery of urgent cancer care across the North Central London and North East London Cancer Networks., Service ImprovementDrive continuous service improvements to ensure high-quality care, strong financial performance, and efficient delivery. Collaborate with senior leaders to meet national targets and lead strategic projects.
Cancer and RTT PerformanceLead performance management for Head & Neck and Thoracic surgery, ensuring all internal and external performance targets are met. Embed learning from breaches.
Financial ManagementManage service budgets, ensuring optimal resource use and maintaining financial control. Monitor financial and performance targets, addressing variances and coordinating with other budget holders. Identify CIP and revenue opportunities, and lead the cost pressure processes.
Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with partners in NCL/NEL, chair meetings, and ensure SLAs and job planning are aligned to improve patient pathways and experience.
The Deputy Divisional Manager will support the post holder in delivering these responsibilities.
Excellent HR, financial and performance management skills will be essential to the job, and we are also looking for creativity, energy and compassion. Leading on change management will also be paramount for the post holder to achieve improvement in process and patient outcomes.
Successful candidates will have substantial service development and staff management experience. Other skills will include a high level of emotional intelligence, brilliant communication team-working and organisation skills, as well as excellent problem-solving abilities.
