Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional nursing leader to join our senior leadership team in the Renal and Urology Care Group. The Head of Nursing will work collaboratively with the General Manager and senior nursing team, reporting to the Clinical Director with professional accountability to the Site Director of Nursing.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role alongside an ambitious clinical team. You will be competent at managing services across multiple sites, leading highly specialised people and empowering teams to deliver excellent patient outcomes, while continuing to develop a culture of respect and compassion in a supportive environment. You will understand how to drive performance, professional standards and improve clinical services. Significant recent experience of an acute environment with proven management and leadership skills is essential for this role, with renal and urology experience desirable., We strongly encourage informal discussions with Martin Ford, Clinical Director and Helen Fletcher, Site Director of Nursing, In conjunction with Clinical Director, General Manager and his/her team, agree the strategic direction of the Care Group in order to align its plans with the Trust's values and principles in implementing the national policy agenda

Budgetary and Financial Management

To be responsible for the nursing budget within the Care Group, ensuring each speciality manages and has effective budgetary control

People Management and Development

Working with the Site Director of Nursing and senior nursing colleagues, to carry out 6 monthly skill mix reviews as required by the Chief Nurse/Corporate Director of Nursing ensuring the established figures meet the needs of the Care Group

Policy Development, Education, Research and Audit

In conjunction with the Director of Nursing & corporate nursing, ensure the continued development of nursing practice to take account of research and development within the framework of the nursing and midwifery strategy

Risk Management and Quality

To work closely with the General Manager, Clinical Director and Clinical Governance lead, to develop an integrated strategy for clinical governance, with a specific focus on all aspects of clinical and non-clinical risk management
