  • In our Council Plan, approved by Full Council in September 2023, we commit to Liverpool being a fairer, more inclusive and equal city and are designing these principles into everything we do
  • This new role will be directly responsible for leading the corporate equality, diversity and inclusion agenda at Liverpool City Council and driving clear organisational improvements in this respect. The role has a corporate focus, with direct responsibility for the council's equality policy and objectives, annual performance report, equality impact processes while also working collaboratively with other parts of the organisation who lead on different aspects of delivering against our EDI objectives such as workforce diversity, communications, governance, community engagement. This role is not directly responsible for those areas but has a key influencing role on their work
  • The post has a practical and organisational change emphasis and requires someone who has a proven track record of delivery of positive change and can point to specific improvements they have made in complex organisations. The successful candidate will need to be confident in the practical steps the Council needs to take to ensure we meet the commitments we have made. We are seeking someone who can work effectively across different part of the council and who will work effectively to get things done and use all of their positive influencing skills with leaders and managers. This will involve matrix managing virtual teams of officers, at leadership and operational level, working across the Council and with partners that will focus on delivering improved equality outcomes and/or other improvement activity
