Full Job Description

The Trade and Working Capital team provides commercial banking solutions to businesses of all sizes, in the UK and internationally. These solutions are grounded in an in-depth understanding of clients, a passion for enabling businesses to efficiently handle their liquidity, complete payments, mitigate their risks, fund trade flows and support growth. We're looking for an individual who is highly experienced in Trade to lead a new function of transaction risk management within the business. You'll be responsible for identifying, monitoring, reporting, and improving trade & working capital-related risks, while also ensuring alignment to core regulatory requirements and compliance policies and delivering great customer outcomes. You'll work with a high energy team of product specialists, as well as key partners in other areas of the bank, to unlock growth whilst championing an environment of diversity and customer centric innovation, promoting new ways of working to deliver our broader purpose - Helping Britain Prosper. Role Accountabilities include: Financial Risks

  • Review structured (standard and non-standard) trade transactions for CIB and BCB customers, to ensure these are within product risk appetite
  • Work collaboratively with trade specialists in the team to scrutinise new products and propositions (e.g. digital) to optimise the business' risk posture
  • Identify, document, manage and control any new risks, especially those that might emerge from adopting new technology and digital solutions
  • Review Commodity transaction structures to ensure adherence to transaction conditions, including adequate collateral coverage
  • Review Trade portfolio to ensure no concentration risks (e.g. counterparty, country)
  • Review distributed transactions to ensure no additional residual risks
  • Review insurance to ensure adequate coverage of portfolio conditions
  • Review UKEF transactions to ensure adherence to conditions of guarantees
  • Non-Financial Risks
  • Ensure that requisite controls are shared with the Product Risk team and tested appropriately
  • Ensure that the product handbooks accurately reflect processes, product and sub-product risks, including coverage for Trade's digital roadmap
  • Work with Trade Services to ensure reputational, financial crime and other non-financial risks are adequately reviewed and documented
  • Regularly monitor key vendor risks including established suppliers and recent emerging fintech partners
  • Ensure Product system maps remain current and form part of annual Product reviews
  • Review government trade updates to ensure best-in-class compliance
  • Represent the organisation, building strong relationships with external partners, in particular regulators and other governing bodies

    Knowledge and insight of the Commercial Bank and the Trade and Working Capital business
  • Prior experience leading a risk management function, preferably in commercial banking
  • In-depth awareness of the regulatory framework, assessment of applicability to the organisation's products and services and execution of the necessary compliance and risk controls
  • Appreciation of evolving risks resulting from emerging technology solutions in the Trade and Working Capital area
  • Awareness of market trends, and the opportunities and threats that these present to customers and the bank, and the amendments required to the Group's risk management framework
  • Understanding and experience of the product set - and insight into the broader trends and changes impacting clients across the wider industry
  • Track record of working collaboratively and influencing key partners at all levels across the organisation
