Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and skilled Applied Psychologist to join the No Wrong Door service (NWD) at Stepney Road Children's Hub in Scarborough. NWD replaces traditional council-run young people's homes with hubs which combine residential care with fostering. North Yorkshire have created two hubs, one in Scarborough to serve the East of the county, whilst one in Harrogate serves the West. Within this role you will be providing non-appointment-based access and psychological support to the young people living within the home as well as the NWD staff team., Provides highly specialist psychological assessment of young people with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources.

Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of children who may be at risk.

Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for young people and provides specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients' mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice. Negotiates the implementation of such plans with young people and the residential team.

Implements a range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.

Undertakes highly skilled evaluations and makes decisions about care and support options. Provides highly specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to young people's diagnosis, formulation and intervention plan.
