Full Job Description

As part of the Provide multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive paediatric occupational therapy service for children in education who present with developmental concerns.

To work with children and their families in their educational setting and any other appropriate setting as well as within the children's centre.

To contribute to and participate in the organisation, planning and development of the occupational therapy service to this care group.

To participate in setting the standards of care and monitoring the quality of service and referral/waiting times.

To own a car and hold a full clean driving licence and appropriate insurance.

The Paediatric Occupational Therapy team is a well established, friendly and dynamic team, committed to offering the best services possible to our families. Integrated working across education, social care and health is well developed and you will have the opportunity of working with children from school age including offering virtual appointments. The service offers excellent experience with training opportunities, regular supervision and appraisals.

Main duties of the job

To gain consent and undertake occupational therapy assessment, clinically diagnose, formulate and implement treatment plans using specialist knowledge and experience. With knowledge of a wide range of paediatric conditions and treatment modalities to interpret and analyse clinical facts using advanced clinical reasoning and problem solving skills to form accurate diagnoses in a wide range of conditions and recommend the best course of intervention.

Practitioners and staff at Band 7 have a critical awareness of knowledge issues in the field and at the interface between different fields.

They are innovative and have a responsibility for developing and changing practice/services in a complex and unpredictable environment.

They are experienced professionals who have developed their skills and theoretical knowledge to a very high standard.

They perform a highly complex role and have management responsibilities for a work area.
