Full Job Description

You will have experience of caseload management including safeguarding and multi-disciplinary working. You should display excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. We are offering an exciting permanent role for 18.75 hours per week.

You will work within our nursing intervention offer of continence however the wider ICAN community nursing can also include support within sleep, feeding and growth and nutrition. The continence service offer covers both the constipation pathway as well as delivering our nurse led daytime wetting service. Experience of working in this area would be highly beneficial.

The position will be primarily based at one of three child development teams across the city, located in the West at Wortley Beck Health Centre, East at Reginald Centre or South at St George's Centre. Whilst you will be based at one centre predominantly (to be confirmed at the interview), there may be occasions when you will be required to cover one of the other bases.

Main duties of the job

This role requires the successful candidate to have a caring and compassionate approach to families, children and their colleagues and understanding of the family and childs diverse needs.

Key responsibilities include working with children and their families who attend our Community Paediatric Clinics from triage through to supporting care delivery and nursing interventions for those children and families.

You will manage your own caseload of children and young people who require Nursing support with constipation and daytime wetting, you will work with a team of nurses and paediatricians across the city.

Effective communication, awareness of when to escalate concerns and recognition of limitations is therefore paramount to ensure the safety of the children and young people we support.

You will demonstrate a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children with complex additional needs. You will be responsible for the support, development, and supervision of students and junior staff, including appraisals. There is an expectation that you will contribute to the co-ordination and support of the childrens business unit strategy locally to develop coordinated pathways.

The Integrated Children with Additional Needs (ICAN) service is looking for a dynamic, passionate registered nurse with previous experience of working with Children and young people practicing at band 5 or 6 level, to work primarily within the continence pathways.
