Full Job Description

  • Understanding complex business problems and interpreting those into IT technical solutions.
  • Play a key role in the planning and delivery of activities required to design and implement complex technical solutions - for example; research, scoping, design and implementing of IT platforms and solutions.
  • Building key artefacts required to support business change (for example impact assessments, design documents, implementation guidelines etc)
  • Supporting in life changes of requirements for platforms and systems
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge in one or more specialism as indicated below
  • Support Solutions Architects in the creation of platform design documents and future roadmaps
  • Eager to learn and pickup more skills
  • Proactively support the identification and resolution of risks, issues and defects to ensure delivery to required standard is maintained.
  • Reviews own work and peers' outputs to contribute to identify and flag errors or potential issues.
  • Develops working relationships and communicates with a range of project stakeholders across teams to ensure actions completed, progress updated and impacts on other components managed.

    We are looking for individuals with a range of skills in one or more of the following areas/disciplines, and a good understanding of on-prem infrastructure including, networking, monitoring, firewall management would be an advantage.
  • Databases (Oracle, SQL) Virtualisation (VMware products such as vSphere, Horizon, AppVolumes, NSX Load Balancers, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) HPE Hardware and monitoring applications (HPE Storage, Fabric Switches, Backup Technologies) Microsoft Tech Stack (Active Directory, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, File Services, Windows Operating Systems) Operating Systems (Linux (RHEL), Windows Server 2019, Solaris) Not all of the above boxes need to be ticked, we are looking for candidates that have experience in one or many . The successful candidate will work in a medium size team along with junior and senior infrastructure design engineers, owning the design of the platform and also being 4th line support in a multi-department service model. Ideally, you'll have had some operational experience and looking to further your career towards a Solutions Designer, and;
  • Is eligible to hold a minimum of SC clearance
  • Is able to regularly attend Defence offices as per customer / platform requirements
  • Holds a technical degree or industry-relevant experience or relevant demonstrable knowledge
  • Is able to read, understand and update complex design artefacts
  • Can communicate effectively with a range of customer types across the business, both internal and external
  • Stakeholder management - evidence of managing multiple stakeholders across a variety of roles and seniority levels
  • Is able to develop subject matter expertise in engineering functions such as Service Management, Network Management or Infrastructure Management
  • Can work under direction in a fast-paced environment on a variety of projects or issues
  • Has an understanding of ITIL practices and understands how they apply to IT Service Management platforms
