Full Job Description

To support the work of the Rheumatology team to provide clinical support and expertise to rheumatology patients.

  • To provide a high standard of nursing care and to develop existing specialist rheumatology knowledge and skills.
  • To act as a rheumatology nursing source giving advice and psychological support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
  • To review nursing practice and support the implementation of appropriate changes based on research/best practice.
  • To assist with the development and implementation of audit, quality and Risk Management initiatives., · To co-ordinate a clinical workload in liaison with the appropriate medical physician and departmental manager.
  • · To ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice are maintained. · To administer intravenous and intramuscular therapies of rheumatology patients, under the direction of the Consultant Rheumatologist. · To perform assessment of rheumatology patients, before and during treatment · To perform ongoing monitoring of rheumatology patients, under the direction of the Consultant Rheumatologist. · Actively support/enhance good communication between members of the multi-disciplinary team, the patient and their carers. · To maintain accurate patient records. · To actively participate in the collation of data for research and audit purposes., The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recognises the requirement to promote health and reduce ill-health.
