Full Job Description
Do you have experience of working with or for a local authority in delivering their social care functions?, We are looking for Inspectors to join our Local Authority Assessment Team to help us to deliver our programme of assessments of local authorities in England and help us assess how Local Authorities will deliver their duties under the Care Act 2014.
With the introduction of the Health & Care Bill, CQC have new powers regarding assessment of how local authorities (LAs) deliver their duties under Part 1 of the Care Act. These new powers support us to deliver on our new strategy to look at how care is provided by a local system, delivers on what is important for people using the services and reduces inequalities in their care.
We are undertaking an ambitious programme to assess all Local Authorities in England and are building on our existing team to deliver this. We are looking for inspectors to join the team who are passionate and knowledgeable about the work of Local Authorities and how they carry out their duties under the Care Act.
As an Inspector you'll take accountability for delivering a range of regulatory activities contributing to the end-to-end assessment of quality and safety of local authorities.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues in the Local Authority Assessment team including the policy team, data and intelligence team, subject matter experts and experts by experience., If you are shortlisted for this role, the first stage of the recruitment process will be a time constrained written exercise to be completed remotely. Candidates who are successful at the first stage will be invited to attend a virtual interview via MS Teams.
If you have previously completed a written assessment and / or been interviewed for the LAA Inspector role (req 1967 or req 2167), unfortunately we will not be able to progress your application further, as this is an ongoing recruitment campaign for the remaining vacancies.
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.

Then this is the perfect opportunity to join the CQC as an Inspector within our Local Authority Assessment Team. You will help us to deliver our programme of assessments of local authorities in England and work as part of a diverse national team, undertaking all aspects of the assessment process. You will be experienced in gathering evidence, analysing data and writing reports, as well as confident when interviewing professionals, people who use services and the public., Experience of working with or for a Local Authority in delivering their Social Care functions and a passion to work in CQC.
. Experience of working in a Social Care or regulatory environment or related field, preferably at a management level.
. Strong background in assessment, regulation, and managing provider regulatory risk.
. Ability to translate regulatory policy into practical action.
. Proficiency in operational risk management.
. Analytical skills and experience driving innovation and improvement.
. Ability to use internal and external data for informed decision-making and quality enhancement.
. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that means you work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
. Although this is a home-based role you will be required to travel to support onsite work and overnight stays for up to a week at a time where needed, approx. one assessment per month
Grade B - £39,390 (National Framework) or £44,792 (London Framework if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25)
