Full Job Description

Leeds City College is looking for an Instructor/technician to join the the School of Animal Care and Land Management on a fixed term basis for 12 Months. This role involves delivery of practical sessions to our students in our animal care centre and rare breeds farm. In addition, the roles includes the day to day care of animals within the centre. The successful candidate will work as part of a small team and ensure optimum animal welfare standards are achieved as well as delivering engaging practical sessions ensuring our learners are practically competent on completion of their study programme. What You Will Do

  • Plan and deliver practical sessions to learners from level 1 to 3. Practical sessions will include large, small and exotic animals.
  • Instruct, train and assess learners' vocational skills at various levels across the department including both small and large animals.
  • Complete husbandry duties within the animal care centre
  • Ensure optimum animal welfare standards at all times
  • Complete administration tasks related to the role

    You will have a minimum of a level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification
  • You will have achieved a level 3 teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
  • You will have a minimum of a level 3 qualification in a related subject.
  • You will have experience of working with a wide variety of animals
