IT Technical Document Author

In this newly created position, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, management, and delivery of comprehensive technical documentation across the entire IT internal estate. In addition to the creation of technical documents you will also be responsible for enhancing the IT technical information and documents for our end users, including user manuals, general overviews, configuration/installation instructions and internal policy and processes, user policies and charters.,

• Provide expertise related to quality control and quality assurance review and provide technical security documentation.
· Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents, including user guides and manuals, technical specifications, training materials, user policies, and proposals, for both print and online media. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and and interpret technical information to create accurate, clear, and user-friendly documentation
• Utilize modern tools and technologies to improve documentation processes and deliverables
Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, processes and best practices across IT.
• Conduct thorough reviews and edits of technical content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
• Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve documentation quality.
· Analyse IT project requirements to determine types of documents needed. · Identifying documentation that need revision and updating. · Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards, and provide training where required. · Assist in planning, drafting, and developing IT communications both internally to IT and our end users.
• Create tutorials and step-by-step guides to aid users and technical teams as required.
• Ensure documentation complies with industry standards, any relevant regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Gather feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve documentation quality and usability.You will have the responsibility for setting the standard of our technical documentation with the opportunity to take ownership across growing domains.

You will be an expert in technical writing, possesses strong organizational and communications skills, has experience redesigning production documentation from the ground up, this will also include networking diagrams, wiring closet schemas and cabinet layouts. To succeed in this role, you will need experience as a Technical Writer in a tech organisation and passion for creating great technical documentation.,
• Solid understanding of technical concepts and the ability to grasp complex ideas quickly.
• Proven experience in the translation of technical jargon into user-friendly documentation that can be consumed by non-technical and technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience as a Technical Writer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your previous work.
• Proficiency in tools commonly used for technical writing and documentation platforms.
• The ability to research and gather information from various sources, including technical specifications, development teams, and subject matter experts, is critical to producing accurate and comprehensive documentation.
• A strong focus on the end user is essential. Technical Writers should be able to empathize with the needs of developers, stakeholders, and users and design documentation accordingly.
• Meticulous attention to detail is necessary to ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation. Errors or inaccuracies can lead to confusion or misinterpretation.
• Strong project management skills are valuable for organizing documentation projects, meeting deadlines, and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Adaptability to changing project requirements and a willingness to revise and update documentation as needed is essential.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Education Level: · University degree in the field of English or Communications. A background in technology is desirable. · A minimum of 5 years equivalent work experience. REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Proficiency with MS Office Products, including Visio MS Project
• Possess excellent listening, written and oral communication skills.
• Transform complex documentation into simple concepts that are easy to understand all users groups.
• Organising and maintaining a documentation repository, including version control, release notes and wider accessibility for team members and stakeholders.
• Evaluate the users and subject matter experts feedback to retrieve information on documentation and use it to enhance usability.
• Experience with technical writer and documentation concepts and standards
· Ability to absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information. · Hands-on technical writing and editing experience, with specific experience in documenting information technology software and systems.
• The acumen to make technical concepts approachable for non-technical audiences
· Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills. · Strong relationship, interpersonal, and team skills. · Highly self-motivated and directed. · Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
