Full Job Description
As the Joint Design Office (JDO) MEH Lead, you will report directly to the JDO MEH Manager and play a key role in leading a multi-disciplinary team responsible for addressing site queries, including design changes, non-conformance, and technical issues, within the MEH Joint Venture (MEH JV) and NSSS Auxiliaries contracts. You will support operational management and be responsible for providing technical responses to site queries and ensuring the team is staffed with suitably qualified and experienced personnel to assess changes related to nuclear and environmental categorisation, as well as engineering design, throughout the construction phase., Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. What you'll be doing
You will collaborate closely with the Business Architect (BA), sponsors, and stakeholders to understand project needs and define clear objectives, scope, and deliverables. You will develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies while managing budgets and expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial constraints. Proactively identifying risks and challenges, you will create mitigation plans to address potential issues and maintain project momentum.
Throughout the project lifecycle, you will actively manage progress, scope, budget, risks, resources, dependencies, stakeholders, vendors, and requirements, escalating issues to the Programme Manager, Project Sponsor, or Project Board when necessary. You will also work with our Test Centre of Excellence to implement robust testing and quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with auditability regulations in collaboration with our Governance Team. Additionally, you will handle project changes and scope adjustments, evaluating their impact and guiding the team to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet customer expectations.
Are you an enthusiastic Mechanical or Electrical Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? Do you have a strong background in the design and installation phases of large projects, with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills? And thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy tackling new challenges?, We are seeking a degree-qualified professional (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with proven leadership experience in the nuclear industry or another safety-critical sector. You will have a strong track record of fostering collaborative, cross-functional relationships with partners, aligning efforts with common goals and agreements. Experience working with diverse stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment and resolving complex issues is essential.
You will have extensive technical knowledge, including a solid understanding of design processes, design management, and contract management, particularly NEC. Familiarity with design and/or construction is highly desirable. You will be a strategic thinker who can navigate technical challenges and contribute to the successful delivery of projects in a safety-critical context.
Alongside a salary between £62,000 - £70,000, depending on experience and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
